Danielle + Phillip | A Southern Barn Wedding
July 14, 2021

We are so excited to share this stunning wedding with you from this past spring at The Barn at Lloyd’s Dairy Farm.  Located in a quiet community wedged between Burlington and Durham right off of interstate 40 is this gorgeous and beautiful farm.  The farm itself when you first pull up to it on a dirt country road is gated by a large white picket fence on the right, and huge silos surrounding the massive barn that can hold hundreds of people in their reception hall.

The Farm originated as your typical pig and horse farm, which is still very much still infused within the property with decorations of pigs everywhere (including a giant one outside of the bridal suite….that of course...we had to get a picture of Danielle on LOL).  The Barn has since been repurposed into a wedding venue, and also hosts BBQ festivals and hot air balloon festivals.

With the location being close to many major cities, a huge parking lot for guests and a wide open field for festivities, this venue is a great place to have a wedding or attend their events!

I remember when we first met Danielle mid last year.  We had been doing photography for years each, but only decided to begin this wedding photography company together as a power wedding photo couple in Spring of 2020.  We had both second shot weddings together with many different photographers in the past, and this whole idea of starting this business together was both exciting and scary.

We spend each weekend creating and telling the love stories of dozens of couples each year. Providing memories that will last forever in wedding photography, and being that couples cheerleader on their special day week in and week out.  I’m not going to lie….it’s a pretty freaking awesome job and we both love it more than anything in the world.  But, in that moment at our inception, we were terrified that something would happen and we would ruin some lovely couples wedding album and they would be stuck with it forever.  Photography is an art, an art that we put our heart and soul into.  We know how terrifying it is for our bride’s when they are afraid of the worst happening, because we experienced it over and over again until we fully became confident that we provide an amazing experience and an even more incredible service.

Speaking with Danielle for the first time was the first time that we knew that what we were doing was going to make a difference.  From the moment we had our first conversation with her, the three of us instantly connected.  We knew from what she was telling us, how we would proceed to capture these amazing and gorgeous images for her to have forever.  In a lot of ways as a business owner and entrepreneur you get discouraged in the beginning.  So many great ideas die out because of obstacles in the road and people just get discouraged.  Danielle, our connection, and our bond as instant friends, solidified us with what we were doing.

The day of Danielle and Philips wedding was finally among us.  I remember the excitement we both felt that morning leading up to the day.  We were amongst friends, and we were going to provide the best experience for this amazing couple we possibly could.

We arrived at the barn, warmly greeted by all the gorgeous bridesmaids, the stunning bride, and our lovely and dear friend, Melia, who was doing hair and makeup.

Days leading up to this we were in talks with Danielle where she was telling us she was trying to get one of the groomsmen to prank Philip during a fake first look.  We were stoked for this!!! We were so excited to see his reaction (we also got it on video).  Having Philips groomsman come to the bridal suite to wear this long white silky apron looking dress was so priceless.  We were all almost in tears laughing so hard in the bridal suite as Philip got ready to have his first look with his new “bearded bride.”

With the help of the wonderfully talented Paige (wedding coordinator), we successfully staged the first look prank and it was a success!  Later in the evening they both told us that they were actually grateful that the first-look-prank happened, since they were both so nervous for the wedding (which there was no way we could tell, these two are some of the sweetest more humble people you will ever meet.)  The prank first look was followed up by the actual first look between the two of them, and let me tell you it was something special.  In that moment when he turned around and saw his wife for the first time, you could feel his love for her throughout the entire farm field.

Once we grabbed a bunch of bridal party pictures, we had to let everyone crowd into the bridal suite since it was so hot that day and that is the only place that had A/C.  Family and friends arrived as we all hung out together...the couple knew the time was getting closer and closer.

They had decided to set up their marriage ceremony between the barn and the white picket fence, with a decorated backdrop facing the beautiful trees behind.  As the seats filled with friends and family, it was in a moment that Danielle was walking down the aisle to be wed to her incredible love, Philip.  Their wedding ceremony was beautiful, but I think the most beautiful part was the way each of them looked into each other's eyes the entire time the ceremony took place.  These two are so incredibly perfect for one another, and I know they will be happy together forever.

The evening was filled with games, dancing, food and love.  This wedding was such an amazing experience for both of us.  We photographed our friends getting married, we built such amazing connections and relationships with the vendors that were a part of the wedding, and fell a little bit more in love with each other along the way.  We truly spend our time telling so many incredible people's love stories, all while living our own.

Thank you so much Danielle and Philip.

We wish nothing but such a strong loving relationship and unity between two of the best individuals that exist in this world.  We love both of you so much, you will both always be so special to us and the foundations of our business.
